Learn how to advance the new standard for community development

Attend an Upcoming EcoDistricts Foundation Course

The daylong EcoDistricts Foundation course will teach you how to lead neighborhood projects that meet the EcoDistricts Certified standard for community development, which puts equity, resilience and climate protection at the center of all decisions.

The course covers the EcoDistricts Protocol—the basis for EcoDistricts Certified—including detailed information on the following:

  • commitments to imperatives in the areas of equity, resilience and climate protection
  • formation of a governance structure
  • development of a roadmap
  • navigating the certification process
  • ongoing performance reporting

The in-person course also features case studies that address lessons learned from early EcoDistricts projects as well as interactive working sessions where participants have the chance to apply EcoDistricts concepts.

The course is the first step toward earning the EcoDistricts Accredited Professional credential.
